What would YOU do?

By kate on December 19th, 2003

Phil Keoghan, who hosts my favorite current TV show (The Amazing Race), also has a new Discovery Channel show called No Opportunity Wasted.

The premise is that it helps people achieve some kind of dream: they get 72 hours and $3000 to do whatever they wish. Check out the site for more info – it sounds like an interesting idea.

My question is: What would YOU do if you were on the show?

They are accepting applications until December 31st, so you could still apply if you have a good idea. The site has some suggestions to get the ideas flowing. The cool part is that if they choose you, you don’t know until they show up at work and take you away.

What a really cool idea for a show! Are you going to apply?

My first thought is to take my Mom on an Alaskan cruise. We’ve been talking about it for a few years and she retires next August. Wouldn’t that be a great way to begin the next segment of her life?

But if I was going to be completely selfish, I would take a trip through New England to all those bookstores I read about in my “Books about Books”.

My final idea would be to take vegetarian cooking lessons from one of the greats. I enjoy cooking, but don’t experiment very much…I stick to other people’s recipes. Maybe this would spark some creativity.

I’m not going to apply, because I don’t want to be on TV. However, I had a great idea: STORM CHASING.

I just love storms and I think a good “NOW” episode would be of someone evaluating the national weather forecasts, then trying to fly where the storms would be worst. I’d try to find an experienced storm chaser to take me with him/her.
