Off the cuff

I think that the reason I don’t post very often in this journal is because I have this drive to polish everything to perfection before putting it up for public consumption. While that’s a good approach for my website, I know that Livejournals [where this was originally posted] are meant to be more immediate and informal.
 
So, I will make an attempt to be more off-the-cuff and post random thoughts and updates more often.
 
How much do you polish your entries?

    The way I usually do entries is I open either my client or notepad and write some stuff. As I write I edit a little — you know, backspacing and changing a word or correcting spelling or something. Then I reread and edit a little more — sometimes removing anything which might be (too) inflammatory, or changing the formatting, or reorganizing thoughts, or adding a whole new paragraph. THEN I spell check and post. If I’m using the web client, I always always always preview before posting. If I’m using the downloadable client, I load my page immediately after posting and reread what I’ve put up. Once in a while I’ll edit after posting, but never more than a few minutes after I posted (I know people who edit stuff days, even weeks later, and that just ain’t me. It’s not a portfolio, after all, it’s a record of my thoughts).

    When I post comments I click the “check spelling” box and always preview. Then, after submitting it, I go back and look at it to make sure it looks alright. Zach makes fun of me for this but I rarely have spelling errors or formatting errors in my comments so NYAH. 🙂

    I try not to edit my entries (except for spell-check). My blog is very informal…I sometimes even post notes to myself!

    It’s your journal…forget about immediate public consumption.

    I don’t polish….I rarely even spell check. And my posts show that…LOL…but inside I’m the Grammer Fuhrer, remember?

    I do, however, polish my pearl 😉

    Hm. Sometimes I just jot stuff down and come back to it.

    But most of the time I like to think about my entries and not waste people’s time too terribly much. =\
