Aerial show tomorrow and Thursday!
By kate on December 29th, 2004
It’s finally here – my aerial show opens tomorrow night. We had a successful dress rehearsal today, so I can assure you the show is going to be great.
The basics:
Wed, Dec. 29 and Thur, Dec. 30th
Seattle Center House
7pm (band starts) / 7:30pm (show starts)
The Seattle Center has really been promoting it. We were on UPN 11 last week, and are hoping to get some newspaper coverage.

Upcoming aerial performances
By kate on December 8th, 2004
I’ve been a little hesitant to publicize the upcoming performances of my aerial group, the Aerialistas, because it still feels a little like a dream that will vanish if I pinch myself. Nonetheless, our shows are approaching rapidly, so here are the details:
1. Moisture Festival Fundraiser, Saturday Dec. 11. We’re doing our rope number only, not the whole show. I may do other incidental rope work, too. Open to the public.
2. Hale’s Ales Employee Christmas Party, Sunday Dec. 12th. Same act as the night before. We’re performing at this in exchange for Hale’s letting us use their Palladium space for the fundraiser. Private party.
3. Sugar Snow at Seattle Center Winterfest, Wednesday December 29th and Thursday December 30th. This is the big, 45-50 minute show where we will perform on ropes, hoops, trapezes, and tissu (accompanied by the Circus Contraption band). Open to the public, family-appropriate, and FREE.
Those are all the currently scheduled gigs, although Lara is in talks for others on New Year’s Eve and beyond. If I am dreaming after all, let me sleep!

You know you’re loved when…

… you come home tired and late from aerial practice, only to be served fat, fresh (and still warm) gingerbread cookies with homemade pear sauce.

Wearing black again
By kate on November 4th, 2004
I’m not feeling any better about things today. If anything, I’m filled with a little less rage and a little more despair after reading in the paper about the administration’s plans for the next four years. And this idea that progressives should be hopeful after what we managed to accomplish just isn’t working for me. If we couldn’t do it now, trying as hard as we were, when will it ever work?
Also I’d like to make one point. People just cannot stop talking about how it was the voters who valued MORALS that voted for Bush, that MORALS tipped it in Bush’s favor, and that Kerry voters were more interested in ISSUES than MORALS.
